Mali Music is one of my favorite Christian recording artists. I’ve been listening to him since 2009 and I haven’t been disappointed yet. He’s not incredibly well-known even though he deserves to be. He thinks outside the box and creates music that appeals to everyone yet he keeps his faith first and foremost in all of his music.

I’m officially excited for this one. A look at what a few famous friends would do if the end of the world had come on December 21st. It’s a little odd that the movie is being released in the summer of 2013. By then the world be way beyond tired of references to the apocalyptic prediction. If what I see in this red band trailer is any indication, it will be worth the wait. Come on…it has to better than John Cusack’s “2012”. Seth Rogen directs with his longtime friend and co-writer Evan Goldberg. It looks to be full of funny people that previously worked with Rogen. Add the fact that they are playing themselves and you have a recipe and ingredients for an damn fine comedy stew.

Elle Varner gives Columbia College a Refill

“One of the best times I had at any show” is Elle Varner’s reaction to the packed house in Cottingham Theatre for the Student Activities Fall Concert Friday night.

Students, alumnae and faculty began to line up for the show hours before the event. Varner, 23, says that this was her first time performing at a women’s college and she was impressed by the beautiful sight and great representation of the crowd. She recalls performing for tougher crowds in other areas of the country, but southern crowds seem to be warmer and more welcoming….

BACK IN THE DAY |10/12/99| Mos Def released his debut album, Black on Both Sides, on Rawkus Records.

This album changed the way I look at a lot of things. I hate that it got tagged as “back pack rap” at the time. There’s dudes in the depths of Bouldercrest Rd. with a mouth full of golds that can relate to songs like “Got.” There’s a dude posted up on Godby Rd. that can understand how it feels to be treated like “Mr. Nigga” anytime he steps foot in any business in Buckhead. And any dude that has lived a little knows what its like to fall for a “Ms. Fat Booty.”
